(AFA TAC)
The Afterschool for All Technical Assistance Collaborative
(AFA TAC) is a new partnership between the California School-Age Consortium, the Community Network for Youth Development
(CNYD), SFUSD ExCEL After School Programs, the Youth Development
Peer Network (YDPN), Sports 4 Kids, and the San Francisco Department of Children,
Youth and their Families (DCYF). Our vision is to create a coordinated city-wide model of technical assistance to support afterschool
programs and develop a workforce of prepared, committed,
stable, and supported professionals.

AFATAC Leadership Track
In an effort to provide holistic supports to afterschool
youth workers, AFA TAC has designed a tiered professional
development track for emerging and existing leaders
in the field.
This includes program directors, site coordinators,
assistant site coordinators, and program leaders preparing
to move into an equivalent leadership role working
in school-based, faith-based, and community-based programs across San Francisco.
The Leadership Track includes three tiers of professional
development designed to meet the changing needs of
San Francisco's next generation of afterschool leaders.
These tiers include:
Learning Circles
1) A 10-session, ½ day (9:00am-1:00pm) Learning Circle for new and existing site coordinators seeking to increase
their knowledge and skills, share best practices and
network with their peers. Learning Circle participants
will receive 40 hours of professional development recognized through
an AFA TAC Certificate of Completion.

Please join the Youth Development Peer Network and
facilitators Yas Ahmed, Sangita Kumar, Margaret Schulze,
Victoria Welle, and and Jason Wyman for a Day of Rejuvenation
and Self-Care. Participants can expect to walk away with concrete
tools and experiences that promote rejuvenation including
a personal self care plan. Visual, movement, and literary
arts form the basis for this interactive workshop.

Peer-Led Mentoring
Receiving Mentoring: This is an opportunity for new site coordinators to
receive mentoring from a peer in the field and complete
a work plan and professional portfolio. Mentees will
also receive additional content-specific coaching. Portfolios will be reviewed to assess
how well they reflect the goals of the work plan, include
all guiding components of a portfolio, and include
a tangible legacy for the mentee's program (such as activities that can be used by future site
coordinators). Portfolios will be showcased at an end of year celebration
on June 4th, 2009.
Mentoring Others: This is an opportunity for experienced site coordinators
to build knowledge and skills in supporting others
by mentoring new site coordinators. Mentors will be
trained and supported in conducting mentee site visits
and working with mentees to develop and complete a
mentee work plan and portfolio. Mentors will also receive
coaching throughout the mentoring process.
